March 9, 2010 Maryland is keeping its codes current with the implementation of the 2009 editions of NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code® and NFPA 1, Fire Code, and the 2008 edition of NFPA 70, National Electric Code®. The Educational Messages Advisory Committee meets annually to review NFPA’s fire safety education messages and to provide recommendations to NFPA public education staff for updating and revising the messages. The initial findings of a groundbreaking study show that home fire sprinklers protect the environment. The study, a collaborative effort of FM Global and the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, involved the burning of two furnished living rooms, one of which had been outfitted with a quick-response sprinkler. more >>
