The NFFF Seat Belt Pledge
The North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and state fire agencies participate in the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) "Everyone Goes Home" Seat Belt Pledge, a campaign urging firefighters and departments to commit to 100% seatbelt use.

The NFFF Seat Belt Pledge
The Commitment: "I pledge to wear my seat belt whenever I am riding in a Fire Department vehicle. I further pledge to insure that all my brother and sister firefighters riding with me wear their seat belts."
The Mission: Vehicle crashes are a leading cause of line-of-duty injuries and deaths among firefighters, and data shows a high percentage of fatal apparatus crashes involve unrestrained personnel.
North Carolina Initiative: Fire departments across North Carolina are encouraged to have all members sign the pledge using the state department code EJN8UENRE8 to track participation and lead the nation.
How to Take the Pledge
Official Website: Visit the International First Responder Seatbelt Pledge Portal to register or submit your department's information.
Department Code: North Carolina firefighters signing up can use the designated state code EJN8UENRE8.
Letter for Tony Bailey at NC OSFM:
Good morning. I come to all of you asking for your assistance in pushing out the 2026 Seatbelt Pledge Reaffirmation Form to the fire departments in your county. We have a new version of the pledge form as it is now a live document. I have sent the link to all Chiefs and Fire Marshals in the state, but I will continue to nag every department until their members sign it. Here is the link to share and sign.
Please sign and share with the departments in your area. If you signed the previous pledge from the advocate site, it has been reconciled and your name is already on this pledge.
Thank you all for assisting with this important initiative.
