Special NCFMA Update from President Eric Wiseman

NCFMA Members--

It has been five months to the day since I had reached out to all of you regarding the previous actions our association had to take due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During these unprecedented times, it remains my solemn prayer that this letter finds you and your families safe, healthy, and doing well.

On August 12, 2020, our association held our 3rd quarterly meetings that, as many of you know, were mainly attended on a remote basis. I wanted to take this opportunity to assure that all of you are apprised of some unprecedented changes that are taking place within our association.During this meeting, NCFMA officers and the executive board took these extraordinary steps due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic health precautions and state executive orders that prevent us from assembling as we’re traditionally accustomed. Please understand that these changes are due to our continued social distancing efforts to halt this pandemic. These actions are as follows:

  1. The Con Ed workshops (rescheduled from Spring 2020) have been postponed to April/May 2021. Dates and locations will be updated to support your Con-ed planning needs. I am of service for any questions you may have on this matter.

  2. An emergency by-law change/modification by the NCFMA officers and the executive board was made to support remote voting rights to all active and active life members. This emergency change will be applicable to the annual election of officers and board members for this year. The by-laws are being redrafted now and will be published/posted for your review as soon as the executive board completes the draft approval process for submission to the NCFMA Secretary (per by-laws).

  3. Execution of remote nomination & electronic voting process (a timeline):

    • September 23, 2020:  Nominations for annual elections will close

    • October 14, 2020:  Electronic voting begins

    • October 16, 2020:  Electronic voting ends

    • November 9, 2020:  Election results to be presented to NCFMA executive board and officers (during 4th quarter meeting)

    • Run-off election(due to a tie in voting) shall be on an as needed basis TBA for additional remote ballot/polling

IMPORTANT:  Only active members with dues in current status will be eligible to vote. Electronic voting will require a current email address on file and voting will occur by logging into your account in our new online Member Center.  If you have not yet logged into the Member Center and updated your information or paid your dues, please reference the Member Center Tutorials on our website for step-by-step instructions. Please note that our secure online voting system allows for anonymous, single ballot voting for each active member.

Lastly, I would like to humbly thank all of you for trusting me with the privilege of serving you as association President. I understand these changes are irregular, but I believe strongly they are to the advancement of our association. I trust all of you will understand this as well.

Respectfully,

Eric Wiseman, NCFMA President
